Project Background: PSI Pakistan Office – Boat Basin, Karachi
As part of their overall renovation project, the client wanted to address the damaged backyard pergola. Upon inspection, it was:
- Hollow and cracked from termite damage
- Weak in structure and not usable
- Covered in peeling paint and fungus
They wanted to keep the same traditional design but needed a stronger, safer, and longer-lasting rebuild.
Step 1: Removal of Old Pergola
Our team carefully dismantled the old pergola. We ensured:
- No damage to the adjacent garden tiles or boundary walls
- All design elements were photographed and measured for replication
- Termite remains and rotted wood were disposed of safely
Step 2: Manufacturing Pergola Rafters in Our Workshop
Instead of using expensive solid wood, we took a smarter, more cost-effective route:
- Used marine-grade plywood
- Cut and shaped into custom rafters
- Applied termite treatment and anti-fungal solution
- Prepared all joints and fittings in our own godown/workshop
These rafters were carefully crafted to mirror the exact design of the original pergola.

Step 3: Installation, Polishing & Weatherproofing
Once ready, the rafters were transported to the site and:

- Entire structure was sealed and waterproofed
We also conducted on-site water testing before handing it over to the client to ensure durability and protection.
